Before heading out of the city….

The best and easiest way to explore in and around the city of Sydney is by car.

When you first come to Sydney you need to visit the iconic Sydney Opera House. From there seeing (and even driving or walking over) the Sydney Harbour Bridge is something that should be on everybody’s intinary.

When you are ready to head out of the city…. we recommend these x3 great road trip destinations.

Grand Pacific Drive

The Grand Pacific Drive is a 140 km scenic coastal drive. This fun-filled route starts at the Royal National Park. The long and winding drive traverses a rainforest which is very close to the coast.

Along the way, you may consider making a stopover at the Bald Hill Lookout located at the Stanwell Tops. You will get the chance to see some stunning views of the adjacent ocean. You will also get the opportunity of seeing hang gliders take off for flight.

You will also have the option of driving along the Sea Cliff Bridge. This place is a piece of architectural brilliance that measures 450 meters. It hugs the edge of the coast.

Finally, you can beach-hop your way down the coast all the way to Kiama where you can see the famous blowhole and maybe even spot a whale on a lucky day!

Blue Mountains

Located only 2 hours west of Sydney city, the Blue Mountains has breathtaking scenery and is a renowned World Heritage Site.

The region, as a whole, is spectacular for all-year-round day-trippers and travellers alike. With that said the best time to visit the Blue Mountains is during the winter months.

During your road trip stopover at nearby towns and historic centres which have quaint cottages as well as fire-lit pubs. You will enjoy delicious food and beverages at these places.

You may put on your hiking shoes and take a stroll to some of the best nature walks the region has to offer. Our most recommended place is the National Pass located at the Wentworth Falls.

It is a scenic nature trail that roughly takes 3 to 4 hours to fully explore. The trail features sandstone cliffs, waterfalls, and lush leafy gum trees. It is one of the most popular places for tourists.

Jervis Bay

If you love playing outdoors especially in the summer months, this is your ideal destination. It is a hub of beautiful beaches and contains plenty of native animals and boasts a great nature walk.

The bay is situated down south of New South Wales and will take you roughly 3 hours to drive to from Sydney.

Stop and park at the Hyams Beach. This beach is famed for its iconic crystal blue waters and perhaps the whitest sands on earth.

You will be surprised to see the beach sometimes host dolphins.

If  you decide to camp out in the Green Patch area, the place has a good and well-secured camping ground. It is a beautiful paradise located in the national park teeming with kangaroos, wallabies, and colourful parrots.
